I have recently change my OS to vista and have come to realize that with Vista my dial-up internet conection has started taking so long that i have thourght about watching a movie while i wait. on average i used to be able to load most page in 26 seconds but now i am waiting up to 10 minuets to open a small page.
Can anyone help? Plz

Is windows update running? If it is it can slow you down in a hurry. It could be another program trying to update as well.

When you are connected, is it transferring data? (Go to the Network & Sharing center, and click "Properties" for your connection.) If it is transferring data at a normal speed, try to find out what your computer is downloading. If it is something good, like an update, you can let it finish, and your connection should return to normal.

Thanx but when i am downloading stuff (which is like always) it doesn't affect my page download speed because i got 53kbs connection but only 5 are allocated to personal downloads and the other 48 are allocated to page download. This hasn't changed between xp and vista and the problem lies in the programme somewhere not my downloads i use xnd router with a speed buffer for my dial-up witch on good days will work well and give me a connection of about 150 kbs. Vista i think mite have a problem with the buffer (wich is external) but i don't think so because the device doesn't run through the programme it runs through the telephone lines.
thanx anyway
