I hate Vista! I can't open files
When I put a disc in the tray It won't open. I try going to the start menu, clicking on computer and try to open it that way but no luck. If I put in a movie or a disc for photoshop for example, I get a window that offers me options to open or whatnot. It seems with disc that I copy to cannot be opened

any ideas?

Thanks.

"It seems with disc that I copy to cannot be opened"

Could be a disk that was copied.

Can you provide any details for how and what you are copying to the disc?

Can you provide any details for how you are copying to the disc?

For example, what computer, what operating system, what program?

Can you see the CD in the Windows Explorer or My Computer? It could simply be that the software is just not configured to view the contents automatically.

I the computer I used for making the copies is listed in my signature. I am currently using a compaq, with the vista OS. As far as programs I have used windows, jet audio mostly for copying.

Sometimes I can see the disc in my drive when I open my computer. But it won't open when I click on it.

What I would do is I would upload pictures from my camara to my pc. Then I would save them to a disc. mostly with windows. Sometimes, for reason I don't understand a burning program wont work. So I have a few different types that I may use.

I truly appreciate your time and effort.

thank you.

it could be the brand of CD your trying to use. some might work and some wont. i bought some Cd's one time and my PC wouldn't recognize them.

on a other note. not related to this. if you want vista to run more smoothly. i would get more ram. the best is 2GB or more

"Sometimes, for reason I don't understand a burning program wont work."

Since you are making the CD's with a XP computer that apparently has trouble some of the time even making the disks, what happens if you make them on the Vista computer instead.

the disc open and work fine on my xp pc, I cannot open them on my vista. I have the same problem no matter what brand I use. I will get more ram though and see how that works.

Yes, that is all old information.

So again:

1. What program are you using to make the CD's on the XP computer?
2. What part is failing occasionally on that computer?
3. What happens when you try and make on on the Vista computer?

But I would hold off on more memory at this point. It won't solve your CD problem.

My xp computer works fine. On the Vista, when I put the disc in the tray, nothing happens. I click on my computer and try to open that drive and nothing happens.

On my XP I get a box that pops up and ask what I want to do.

Oops I guess I answered those in the previous quote.

thanks

To confirm, you are using the Windows Media Play to burn Photoshop files to a CD?

From post #7 it does appear that you have problems burning CD's on the XP computer -
"Sometimes, for reason I don't understand a burning program wont work."

Again, what happens if you try and burn them on your Vista computer? That was never answered.
