WMP 11 is running in task manager but not working
first of all hello and what a great (but scary reading and trouble riddled) forum you have lol.

basically when i start up my pc if i go to listen to an mp3 track or anything that needs WMP to boot up it wont start.now i checked the task manager and there is a wmp already running and if i end the process all works well.what i want to know is how do i get it from starting up ? as i dont want to be going into the task manager evertime i boot up my pc.thanks in advance.

Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling

controlpanel
add remove programs

Not sure if it will work on Vista but it's worth a try:

One solution would be to go to Start > Run and type in "msconfig". Go to the Startup tab and uncheck any Windows Media Player processes. This will prevent them from starting with the system.
