Maintaining an internet connection
I just got a new a HP laptop a few months ago that has Vista on it, I love it so far but I have one problem. Every time I close the laptop while it is on, I lose connection to the internet. Is there a way to fix this because when I download a large file I like to start it before I go to work and I don't want to leave the top open because of all the dust and what not that could get in the keyboard. Any suggestions or am I out of luck?

I have never seen a laptop that did not at least go to sleep when you close the cover...leave it open and dust it later.

Have you look at the options listed in the "Control Panel, System and Maintance, Power Options, Change what the power buttons do".

There is a "Do Nothing" listed under BOTH Battery and Plugged in.
