Vista and Dreamweaver MX
I have bought a new computer with Vista Home Premium. When I open Dreamweaver, it opens fine but I cannot create tables. I googled the problem and it is an issue with Vista/Dreamweaver but I can't find a fix.
Any ideas??

Thanks,
Senna

If Dreamweaver is a older version, NOT Vista approved, try running it as Administrator. This will help MOST pre-Vista programs.

It is an older version of MX. I did a right-click on the desktop shortcut of Dreamweaver and selected "run as administrator" and then opened up the program. That didn't seem to help. Any other options??
I don't want to but if I bought Dreamweaver 8 would that solve my problem or would I possible run into the same problem?

Thanks for your help!

I do NOT use Dreamweaver, so I can not answer that question.

I'm using 6.1.1842.0 and have no problems with it. I don't run it in compatability mode, or have to use run as admin. If it's version 6 or 7, did you apply the update? You can find the download by searching google.

Downtime,
Thanks, where did you find what version you are running? When I go to about Dreamweaver under Help it just shows me the dreamweaver logo with scrolling text but nothing about the version number.
Thanks, I am hoping I do not have to purchase an upgrade for dreamweaver.

Thanks Downtime,
I am running the same version as you 6.1.1842.0. I will try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Maybe that will make a difference.
Thanks again for your help.

Have you used Dreamweaver before? To create a table, you have to be in layout view.

Yea, I have. I have 4 website that I run so I am pretty familiar with it. I've tried it in every view. Even on an existing page and a new page.

Lightbulb fix
Dreamweaver MX isn't fully compatible with Vista, but there's a tweak to get your insert>tables option to actually function.

You have to modify a configuration file called Table.htm that Dreamweaver uses to insert tables. After the error appears, the data in Table.htm is cleared which is why the error continues, or you get no response at all.

I wrote a tutorial on how to fix this, it's rather easy to do:

I hope that helps you!

NEW fix
I've done a little more research and came up with a BETTER fix for this problem. I posted the tutorial on my website here: http://www.funkytower.com/2008/09/22...bles-best-fix/
