Is my CD rom broken?
I got my vista XP install CD and changed my bios first boot setting to CD ROM but whenever I put my XP DISC in and then the screen comes with 'press any key to boot from cd' I press H or something and it does nothing, I recently got a blank disc and put ubuntu on it and tried this and got the same result, I can install games and play them fine but this is the only problem I have. Thanks.

You've mixed three operating systems in one post. There's Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Ubuntu. What are you trying to install?

I'm really trying to install XP, I got advice to see if it's just the disc and try something else bootable, so I tried Ubuntu to see if I could boot it. No avail.

What exactly happens when you try to boot from the Windows XP installation disk?
