Reducing startup processes?
I just got a dell m1330, and was stunned when I booted it up. 60+ running processes. Coming from XP I'm not really sure what to stop, can anyone help?

Why not tell us what is at "Run,msconfig,ok,startup" and we will tell you what to uncheck.

You don't need any of that and can uncheck...no antivirus installed?

With respect Rich, isn't that a bold answer? Surely he needs the pointing device , for example, if he is going to use it?
Ditto Defender and the C-Major, maybe a couple of others- dependant on his personal needs?

I have mcafee pre-installed, though I'm going to replace it with nod32. I'm probably being very stupid, but I don't see how there could be 60+ processes. Also, what is OEM04Mon.exe?
Thanks

In which area are you reading those running processes?
I think the help here may be in a different context!
What you have been asked to list, and to which you have received an answer, are not altogether "running processes."
The advice will certainly help, but could you list (presumably from the task manager) the processes that you have running?
FWIW I have a pretty well tuned OS, and have 62 "running processes" This includes several third party progs such as Acronis.
