Vista Black Screen
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook computer. After using it for a week it has, at least 5-6 times gone to a black screen (with a square of different color lines) in the middle of using it. The only solution is to turn it off. I was going to return it, thinking there was something wrong with the latptop but after talking to other people am now wondering if it may be VISTA.

I have seen several problems with getting a black screen when booting, but none during use.

Is there any way to know if it is a problem with the PC or with Vista?

If you got to http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...board.id=vista you will find that a search on "Black screen" brings up many users with problems.

I would contact Dell about issue and have them find a fix for you.

Had a similar experience with new a Dell 640m laptop.

Black display with flashing multi coloured lines.

I would recommend you contact Dell.

Not quite sure if this was combination of Vista and/or, a faulty laptop.

Support team tried to rectify by phone, but agreed replace FOC

Thanks
Thanks for your help. I returned the laptop and got a new one. So far no problems!
