Computer Randomly Restarting
I'm not sure if my problem has anything to do with the OS itself, but I'm not sure where to post it so I'll post it here. I made this computer myself about 6 months ago and it has been functioning fine and without many problems. However, last week, I purchased an extra gig of ram to add to my machine, just put it in yesterday, and today, I'm experiencing problems with my computer. It was a hot day, maybe 75 degrees farenheit, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but my computer is restarting randomly every 30 minutes or so when I'm playing any video game. CPU usage is constantly around 90%-100% when I'm playing a video game, but that hasn't been a problem in the past. I'm not really even getting a bluescreen or anything, the computer just restarts itself.

Here is the error I'm receiving::
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 1000008e
BCP1: C0000005
BCP2: 819D7885
BCP3: 9B69BC80
BCP4: 00000000
OS Version: 6_0_6000
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini081707-02.dmp
C:\Users\Darwin\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-51343-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Users\Darwin\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF76F.tmp.version.txt

My computer specs::
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8 Ghz(44c when idle, 50-51c with World of Warcraft, I opened up the side panel and stuck a house fan there and now its at about 41c with world of warcraft running)
Memory: 2047 MB(Including the 1gig I added yesterday)
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 6600 256MB

Edit: I looked at my Task Manager and added up the memory being used and it was about 500MB, but its saying I'm only using 50% of my Physical Memory, if I had 2 gigs of ram like it says, shouldn't it be 25%ish?
Also checked my Windows Experience Index and it had my RAM subscore at 4.2 yesterday when I still had 1 gig of ram, I added another gig last night and its still at 4.2.

3 possibilities ...

Heat.

Virus.

Bad Memory.

1st is a sniff test. Do you smell anything burning? Are all your fans running? If everything seems OK, take the new memory out and see if it makes a difference. Doesn't help? Update your virus definitions and run a virus check. Still no answer? Go to an online virus check such as TrendMicro http://housecall.trendmicro.com and run their tests. It will catch many viruses that your standard AV application will not.

Finally, if necessary, find and run an application that will give you temperatures of your hard drive and your CPU. One such is SIW. Google for the web page.

I sniffed and didn't smell anything burning, fans look a'ok. I was running speedfan and everything was at 41c and below. I'm starting to think it is just bad memory. If you have a bad memory stick, does it do anything at all? Does it speed up your computer a bit or is it just sitting there and not doing anything. Also, does bad RAM cause blue screens? because all I get are blank black screens and then the computer restarting.

Bad memory will cause all kinds of problems. Yes, more memory will speed up a system that has lots of things going all at the same time. But bad memory can cause blue screens, rebooting and many other problems. If you have bad memory, it certainly can cause the problems you describe.

Contining ...

No matter what, you really do need to run the Anti-Virus checks.
