Question VISTA not allowing real player installation
Hi every body,
I am desperate with a Dell dimension D520 desktop with Vista o/s.
My problem was that using this computer I am not able to listen to music from a web site called www.raaga.com.
The error message was "Real player is not installed in your computer"
So I down loaded the realplayer10.5 gold from real.com and tried to install the same.
Now the installation gets stopped half way saying "Setup decompression error"
I googled the error message and got the info to disable antivirus and the firewall and then geive a try
I tried and with out any success.
I was using AVG free antivirus. To end the trial I wanted to reinstall the AVG and to my utter dismay I and getting stuck up with that installation as well. the program is not responding
I think there is some setting in VISTA whcih is blocking the insatllation
Can anybody please help
Regards,
P.S.
I contacted the dell support and they do not have any real answer other than trying older versions of real player (which is also not working)

Thank you for your time

I do not think that realplayer10.5 is Vista ready and that may be your problem.

You need Version 11 which you can download at http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/0...free-download/

Thanks..but
Dear sir,
thank you for your valuable suggestion. I tried the link as soon as I saw it.
What is happening with realplayer11 is a bit different.
It appears to proceed up to the installation ( No set up decompression error message!! )
but then the windows returns a message that the component did not install properly, and asks for a confirmation for trying the installation with some recommended settings. When you click okay it goes through exactly the same windows and gives you an euphoria and then returns a "could not install the program" reply.
when you check in All Programs there is no foot print left as well.
Some one please give me a hand

If real Player would not install I would feel quite lucky actually as it tries to rule your universe like it's cousin Quicktime player. Try this alternative that should play the same files and I have used in Vista.
