Mouse speed slows after every boot
Hi Guys,

Not a big problem, just mildly annoying!!

Every time I log into Vista (Home Premium) I have to reconfigure my mouse speed. I use the mouse at a relatively fast speed but whenever I log out and log back in, it always resets itself to a medium speed. I also have to re-tick the Enhance Pointer Precison box.

Does anyone else have this problem, or even better has anyone had it and fixed it?

Cheers

Asgt

B.T.W. system is Sony Vaio VGN-N38E standard spec (Intel Dual Core T2130 @1.86GHz, 1GB RAM, Vista Home Premium.

Is the mouse a "Touch" screen or a USB External type?

Does it just reset your mouse settings or have you noticed its resetting any setting your save and logout and back in?

Don't know a whole lot about vista yet but i did see something in the control panel, about local profiles.
Think its located in:

Control panel:
Admin tools
Local policy's ( something like that)
Poke around there,

you could also add a new Admin account, and try and save the settings on that 1 and see if it sticks, if it does you know its a local policy preventing you from making changes to some settings, such as your mouse one.

hmm that used to happen with me when i contacted HP they gave me a software called Synaptics Pointing Device and um well that helped my mouse settings stay the same it allows me to do a whole lot of things with the touchpad...maybe you should give that a go?

Thanks but that's what I am using. In fact removed that program and it was the same, so I reinstalled it because it is interesting.

Have a good day!

In reply to yvang, I have kind of solved it.

I usually put the laptop into Hibernate instead of turning it off which seems to help.
Although, sometimes, if I have turned it off it works fine, sometimes I have to re-adjust it.
Also I'm using a USB mouse a lot at the minute which means I'm not really noticing it.

Shaji007 - if I uninstall the Alps Pointing Device software, which was pre-installed, and installed Synaptics software instead, would I notice any incompatibility problems?

Cheers

Andy
