80072ee7 with Windows Live Messenger, AVG/Vista Update problem
Hi

I have a new notebook since today (Asus Aspire 5102) with Windows Vista on it.
I installed Windows Live Messenger but I can't connect to the .net network. It says that the firewall isn't set up properly for Windows Live Messenger.

Though, the firewall is shut down...

So I got no firewall up and running. I have the same problem with the Windows Vista update system, AVG Update manager. They can't connect to the internet.

The internet connection is fine, I can surf on the net with internet explorer and firefox.

Anybody has an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Philip,

For windows live messenger you have to edit firewall settings. Windows Firewall can prevent the message from leaving your computer, thereby preventing the malware from spreading to other users. This post on firewall settings for msn messenger describes how to check if it's your firewall that is blocking msn messenger. It would be helpful for you to get your Live Messenger up and running. AVG Say this is a problem with their software and will notify me when an update is available.
