Dual OS XP/Vista
I run XP SP2 currently on my inspirion 5100. Can I also run Vista on my PC? I want to be able to choose which OS I want to run at start up.

should be able too

Once you install Vista or Xp what ever second OS is going to be it should auto update your boot.ini file so you can select which OS you want on boot up.

Vista does not use Boot.ini. You will need to create, if you do not have one already, a separate partition for Vista - I would suggest 40 gigs for comfortable installation of your programs (minimum)
When you install Vista, it also installs a boot manager, a replacement for Boot.ini. It will automatically set up a dual boot, without your intervention.
You can choose which default OS you want later through the Control panel/System.
