Update won't install
I have 1 update that will not install. It is KB930857, and has to do with error reporting. I have tried renaming the history folder, manually install, both many times to no avail. I can't seem to make it go away either. Any Ideas? I have attached an image of the error I get each time I try to install.

My machine is a Dell E1505 with Vista Home Premium.

Make sure you have your anti virus off. That was one of the problems. Also, click the get help link. One of error codes I have gotten said my file was newer than the update, so the update wouldn't install.

Thanks for the reply. I actually uninstalled Macaffe and tried it--no luck. At this point if I could make it go away, that would be okay too.

Resolved-Update won't install
Just an FYI. After several different 'fix attemps' with Microsoft Customer Service, I wound up doing an in-place upgrade to fix this issue. The way I understand it is that I reinstalled Vista without having to reinstall all of my other software and restoring my data. All seems okay now.

I take no credit or blame for the following - I just found it and am passing it along:

"Can you please follow the instructions below and let me know if it resolves
the updates failing with 8007000b issue.

1. Open an Administrator command prompt by right clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt and selecting "Run as
Administrator" and clicking "Allow" for the elevation prompt
2. In the command prompt, type the command below
fsutil resource setautoreset C:
(This assumes that C: is the drive in which Vista is installed. If it is
installed on another drive like D:, please change the drive letter
appropriately)
3. Reboot the machine

After reboot, please try to install the updates again and let me know if
that resolves the issue."
