yeah, I'm not totally sure i understand exactly what your trying to do. Do you just need help on just where all the cables get plugged into, like the keyboard, mouse, monitor? or as blackmirror asked just create a new login account for him on the pc?

thank you black mirror for replying, all i really need to know is how to connect up the other computer from the router on my one, it is going in the adjoining room to this one but i dont know what parts i need to get to do this or how to split the broadband connection. We will still be using my account on both computers. sorry if appear thick but my son could advise me but he is in glasgow and i am in aberdeen and i dont want to bother him, and, lol he has little patience.

if you have a broadband router then all you have to do is either run an ethernet cable from the pc to the router if you don't mind the cable layin on the floor or buy a wireless card for his pc but only if your router supports wireless. after connecting the ethernet cable his pc should be automatically assigned an internal IP address from the router if DHCP is enabled on the router which I think usually is by default.
