Windows Live Messenger on Vista
Hi,
I have recently got a new computer with Windows Vista which, when signing into Windows Live Messenger, gives me the error message of "Signing in failed because you do not have the correct user ID and password for your HTTP proxy server. See the connection tab in Messenger Options. For help, please contact your system administrator" with this message the error code is 80070197. When troiubleshooting that error code however it doesnt find anything. I have used Windows Live Messenger on this computer on my internet at home but I am now back at uni and it does not work on the university network server. I have asked the university, who claims Windows Vista is not compatible or something.. the rest of the internet works with Windows Vista, just not Messenger. Is there anything I can do to get it working on a University Network?

Thanks heaps.

I found this post via google and I have the exact same problem. Is there a solution? When running the troubleshooter it says the gateway is offline. When I run the test on the proxy settings it says it's ready to connect.
