Hey guys, I've recently just re-installed Vista 64-bit and whilst reinstalling the 64-bit K-Lite Codec pack I get the following error at the end of the install :
"Unable to register the DLL/OCX:RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3"
Funny thing is on my last install of Vista the pack installed with no problems at all....anyone have any ideas?

are you using WMP or any other Player While installing k-lite

Nope no media players, to my knowledge, are running during the install process

I take it this isn't a very common problem then? I'm just confused by the fact that it worked on my first install but won't this time. Could hardware changes have affected something like this?

Would replacing the file with this one:

be safe? Do I stand to lose anything by replacing it? What does the dll file actually do?

I also forgot to mention that before the DLL warning message it displays the path: "C:\Program Files\KLCP64\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax"
Is there maybe something wrong with this file? Has anyone else had this problem?

try this:
search for cmd.exe (its also in C:\Windows\System32 if you want to do it manually), right click the file, and select "Run as Administrator". click OK to the box the pops up, and now in the command prompt run your regsvr32 command. If the command prompt isn't running with administrator privileges you can't register anything.
