Unhappy Want to go back to Windows XP
Hello All,

Just to make you all aware I am not that great with computers I label myself as a computer beginner!

Right here is my problem;

Around about 3 months ago I was given a copy of Windows Vista ultimate, I installed this on my computer after running the nessary tests on it first. (I was running Windows XP) It installed fine with no problems however since then I have been losing software as well as some drivers.

I am wondering if I can simply either wipe my hard drive (just all the files and software but not the operating system) or if I can get Windows XP back? However I would have just installed Windows XP however I do not have the disc

So I am stuck and my computer is usless... it turns on and thats about it.....

PLEASE HELP ME!!

Thanks in advance

Jaston

You can't go back to Windows XP unless you have the disks to reinstall it.

Please define"losing software as well as some drivers".

As I have been running Vista since Beta 2 and the ONLY software or drivers that were removed from my computers were the ones I told the system to remove.
This also goes for any files, I have seen a report where Vista has remove all of ones "Ripped" music, I do NOT believe that this was done BY Vista otherwise we would have seen this plastered all over the web.

I lost my sound driver, Mcaffe also went. I believe that Mcaffe has gone due to a virus.

I have in the last hour or so tried to roll back my computer using my Vista disc however my computer isn't booting up anymore...

I have absolutely no idea, I am pretty sure it was the full copy though (Ultimate) my computer.. well I am running a AMD Sempron processor (haven't got a clue what speed) 512mb memory and I think 80Gb hard drive... thats all I can possibly tell you.

Is the origin of this disk suspect? Seems a little odd that someone would "give" you a $300 operating system.
