Question Am I really the administrator??
I have been having ALOT of problems trying to install things on my pc and have talked to afew people about this and ahve been told by each of them that even though it says I am the administrator account that I really am not and that windows actually has a "hidden" administrator account which is the reason behind me not being able to install some programs correctly. So is this true and if so how do I make myself the real administrator

If it was a problem that you were not an admin when installing software it would basiclly come out and tell you, you can not install that.... If it does say that then:

What windows OS?
<
click Start
Run
type
winver
>
that will tell you/us what your running.

Yes, there is a "System Administrator", the way of using this account is to "Right click" the program file or in your case the setup file and select "Run As Administrator" This will invoke the System Admin account and run the program or setup.

"Is there a way to my account always run as admin? "
No, it must be done on a case by case issue. But you can set up each "Program" to run as Admin each time the program is started.
Right click the icon or menu entry ans select "Properties". Select the "Compatibility tab, and then enter a check in the box near "Run this program as and administrator", then Ok yourself out.

Log on to your account with admin access.
goto command prompt (start > run > cmd) - right click to run as admin.
