vitsa / MS works compatability
hi everyone....my first post here
im about to buy a new desktop pc and of course it will come with vista (premium) but it comes with a 60 day trial of MS works.....i dont really want to stump up even more money at the end of the 60 days and would like to do what i did to my XP laptop a few months ago when i had the same problem.....i have a genuine copy of Works.....2000 i think.......i just deleted the locked software and installed the older but perfectly usable version i had.....my question is will i be able to do that on a vista powered machine?......is XP software compatable with Vista?

thanks in advance for any help given

If the Works copy you have is a retail version you MAY be able to use it.
That said if it is a OEM, came with a computer then NO you will need to get a another copy. Also not being that it is several version old you may have issues installing it and running it. You will want to right click the setup file and run as administrator to do the install.

By the way, most of the machines I have seen they come with a full copy of Works and a 60-90 Trial version of Office, double check the listing on your upcoming new machine.

If are are talking about the 60-90 OFFICE, yes you will have to pay for it or uninstall it.

If the machine comes with a full copy of Works (NOT a trial version), you will be able to use it with out any additional fees
