Okay i know on some other post i did say i'd do away with vista but then again i thought dual booting would be a good choice.
Well my problem was that after installing xp and i try to reinstall the vista bootloader, the system recovery option from the dvd just wouldn't work? I don't know it doesn't detect any other os and then again when i click on next it gives me this strange message that "the current version on your system is not supported.....", well something close to that. So now how do i get the vista system recovery option to work? I mean i did install vista fine with no hiccup. Btw i installed the ultimateX64.
Also how do i get it to dual boot now? I have this easybcd software but even that softy doesn't seem to help. On the boot entry there's just one boot option windows vista which has been set as the default os but it anyways doesn't boot! as the other os in my pc (xp media center) takes over. Just to add i installed both the os on two different hdd, a 160gb (vista) and a 80gb(Xp media center) if that helps. Now can anybody make this more simpler for me.

So let me try to clear things up for me:

You have Windows XP installed as the only operating system on your machine and you want to install Windows Vista Ultimate?

Already got around the dual boot problem. @mike Nope i had both installed on my pc and was not getting it as the boot option wouldn't show up. Well i did away with it by copying the ntldr file from my xp cd to the xp partition. Of course i used the softy easybcd.
But i still don't know why the vista system recovery option wouldn't wanna run on my pc. Got the cd and thats what makes it freaking strange!
