Exclamation Undetected Wireless Network
Well, I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition. Since this would be the third computer in our house, we decided to get a wireless router. It installed fine and worked on our other laptop (Windows 2000).

I tried to connect to the internet with the Vista laptop, but it could not find a wireless network. I was less than 5 feet away from the base.

For reference, I have troubleshooted the following:
The Wireless switch is on
The computer is VERY close the the access point
The router is on and working properly
There is no interference from other devices
Windows is configured to infrastructure (it didn't work with ad hoc, either)
The router is not busy
The router is set to broadcast it's SSID
Access has not been blocked
The adapter is not in monitor mode.

HELP ME!!!

Did you right click the "Network" icon in the notification area (Sys Tray) and select connect?

"The router is on and working properly"

How do you know, have you used a different computer and connected by wireless through this router?

Also if you can, take your laptop with Vista to a coffee shop or any other place with free internet access and see if you can connect from there.

This will tell us if it is the router /settings or computer / settings.

What make and model is this laptop?

Yes, I have used a different computer successfuly.

The model is a Gateway MT3705.

Recently, I stayed at a hotel. After 15 minutes, I was able to connect to the Wi-Fi, but I have no idea what I did.
