windows mail problem
Hi, I have a toshiba satellite vista and I'm on high speed dial up. I use Mozilla as my browser. I use comcast as my email source but when I go to send a site to someone an email page pops up and now I realize it's Windows mail. I'd rather use Comcast mail exclusively but I can't find a way to eliminate Windows mail from popping up. Please tell me how to disable it and advise me if the Comcast will then send the sites I've emailed to myself and others. Incidentally I get a pop up saying the email could not be sent, it is in my output box but I can't find that box anywhere on windows mail. I now find out all the sites I sent are sitting in the outbox. It says my outgoing email addy is incorrect. Whew, I hope you understand this. I know I don't lol. Is there a way I can get around the windows mail and use my comcast???? Emails welcome and thanks so much. I just found this site. Yayagal

As for as I know you can NOT set your default email program to be a internet site such as Comcast.net.

To send a site just copy and paste the web address into a email when you have your Comcast account open.

NOTE: a lot of the new protection software are BLOCKING these emails using the "Send link".

This might work.
Open Set Program Access and Computer Defaults by clicking the Start button , clicking Default Programs, and then clicking Set program access and computer defaults.* If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Under Choose a configuration, click Custom.
3. Under Choose a default e‑mail program, click the arrows over onn the right.Click the e‑mail program you'd like to use, and then click OK.

Notes
If you have more than one e‑mail program installed, you can hide links to any unwanted programs that might appear on the Start menu, the taskbar, and your desktop by clearing the Enable access to this program check box.
The first time you start them, some e‑mail programs display a message asking you if you want to use that program as the default. If you choose to do so, this program will become your default e‑mail program, even if you chose a different program using Set Program Access and Computer Defaults in Control Panel.

Comcast is NOT a local program, so It will not appear in the drop down list.

I had not tried it. but thought if you unchecked Windows mail, it might cause tVista to ask for you default. If you can, look for the download for windows Live Mail. It's quite a lot better than Windows mail and easily allows internet (including hotmail,) and third party E-mail programs to be incorporated.
It still in Beta at the moment but I have been using it for quite a while without any noticeable bugs.

Sounds like the confusion is that yayagal uses Comcrap mail online and there is no way that that will ever be recognized as a default mail program in the OS because it isn't in the OS.
Why not just set up Windows mail to handle all your email, it makes so much more sense to have mail on the system, saved into your OS and it is also a lot faster.
