True Image and a external USB drive
I would like to ask Dave A. how to use an external USB Drive and True Image for Disk recovery for reformat that you mentioned in a previous post. I tried the Create a disk on my HP with Home premium Vista with Memorex CD-RW but I get an error message that the CD which is blank is full and insert another.

Use the True Image bootable CD. If you can make an image on your USB via the CD, then you will also be able to later recover that image.

Try CD-R blank media, I've never tried the TI wizard using CD-RW media.

Thanks for the answer but I'll have to look up 'true image' as I never heard of it. My HP wants to format each blank it seems, so I would have to format about 13 disks for the recovery. It might be cheaper to buy from HP as I heard its about $15 for the CD. Thanks again.

DVD's or an external (or internal) drive are better choices. The images are compressed, so they will take less space than your installation.

I checked True Image out, it looks good, I do have two external HD for my files already, a Maxtor and the HP 80GB that doesn't require a plug in the wall for my laptop. Still True Image seems like a great way to go, Thanks

The others were able to jump in and say what I would have said before I could.

For boot image backups, Acronis True Image, available at NewEgg for $30 downloaded, search for Acronis.
