Unhappy Wierd Vista Welcome Screen Problem :(
Hey guys, I'll try to make this as detailed as possible :/

I build my computer about 4 months ago and have never had a single problem with it. Today I opened iTunes for the first time in about 2 weeks and got a notification about a new update. Naturally I chose to download the update and install it, after the install it asked if I wanted to restart and I chose that I'll do it manually later.

After that I opened iTunes (still without restarting) and listened to some music for a few hours. Then I went out and let my computer sit for awhile. I came home later tonight and restarted it like you normally would through the start menu. When it booted back up it went ot the Welcome screen, which it never does...

I didn't think anything of it and clicked on my Icon to log in, after about 10 seconds the message changed to 'logging out' and the screen when black, and the mouse cursor appeared which wouldn't move if I moved the mouse. a few more seconds pass and it goes right back to the Welcome screen.

no matter how many times I click on it it wont log in. I can log in in Safe Mode, and Safe Mode with Command Promt, but not Safe Mode with Networking (it does the same welcome screen thing).

I tried check disk.. nothing, I tried inserting my Vista DVD at boot and selecting repair... nothing, I did a System Restore to right before the iTunes update and I get in, but I can't open iTunes... I'm really lost... I dunno what to do ; ;

Anyone ever experience this? or have any suggestions? Thanks alot

iTunes Install
You might try this. Unistall iTunes and reboot. Then type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" from the command line (you'll have to enter the command line withe the "Run as admistrator" option). Then try re-installing iTunes. That might work.

I uninstalled everything Apple, the updater, Quicktime, iTunes and the new thing for iPhone, but I haven't reset the computer yet to see if it'll go in.. just because I don't wanna waste another 3 hours trying to get back in...

What does that command line do btw? just curious

Command Line
It registers JavaScript on Vista. For some reason, JavaScript isn't registered by default on Vista. It is on by default on XP.

Javascript
Forgot to mention that iTunes requires JavaScript to be on for its install, but doesn't tell you.

JavaScript
Having "Java" is not the same thing as having "JavaScript" enabled.
