Vista Ignoring Static Address
Hi

I have looked at a related post in here but it had no joy.

I have a vista system with a hard and a wireless interface. The hard interface is fine and the wireless interface (which has a static IP address) is sometimes fine. Right now it is ignoring the static IP address and deciding to give it an address of 169.254.xxx.xxx and no amount of encouragement will make it use the 192.168.1.xxxx address it has been assigned.

Has anyone seen this before?

thanks
Andrew

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Another thing to look into is this fix: Vista Can't obtain IP address from some DHCP Servers
