Windows live messenger not working
hie

I, and a few of my other mates i facing problems signing into windows messenger for the last 6 weeks. We have done everything to going back to the old version of 7.4. This worked for a while but 4 weeks ago stopped working as well. Guys running XP are having no such problems. Only guys with Vista and Norton 07. the message i get when i try to sign is.

Sorry, we were unable to sign you into WLM at this time. Please try again later.

WLM has made several failed attempts to sign you in. Your firewall may be blocking WLM from connecting to the servie. Please review your firewall setting. See the retailer's instructions for more infor.

Error code: 80048820

Extended Error Code: 80048416.

My norton 07 is set to allow WLM and my windows defender is off. I have even done other stuff like allowing it to run as administrator but still same problem. I have reseaeched all over the net but got nothing. I am using LAN.

Please could someone please help us out. It a real pain coz web messenger just keeps getting to full.

Look forward to your help.

is this the code where it says the service is unavailble? if so do the following

check the time on your clock and date

make sure it is in the firewall exceptions list

clear all cookies and tempory internet files - to do this click start and internet explorer, tools and internet options, if you are using internet explorer 7 go down to browsing history and click delete - followed by delete all.

also do a disk cleanup - click start - run - cleanmgr.exe and press enter and do a general cleanup in that section.

also re-register the msn dll files, click this link to find out how

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813444

go down to where it says re-register .dll and follow the instructions

changed what? my Daughter is having a weird issue w/ WLM and Myspace. When she tries to log on to WLM it says the username/ password is incorrect. She tried to send a PW request to her email and it said that she has a limited acct. and that they could not send her the info. But on the old computer she has no prob logging in to either program/place mentioned above. Vista is doing something. What, I don't know. Because it don't matter what browser she uses. Same prob w/ IE and Firefox running.
