Unhappy Please Help Vista HELL and AVG
http://www.download.com/3000-2239_4-10726661.html did this 5 times nearly 3 hours to download each time ( dial up ) then ziltch, but up came the error message every time


says need to download a comapabilty patch from windows update god knows where that is
but found this dont know wether its right or not dont know which one to down load my lap top is a E SYSTEM 3090 not sure wether its 64 bit or 32 bit as you will see from under noted

found out that it was a 32 bit and downloaded below

message came up ( did not apply to lap top )

I dont know what to do next sick of the sight of windows vista already when ya cant even put any antivirus on it. darn't use it too long on line without this antivirus


Can anyone tell me how to overcome this BIG HEADACHE PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!! Please help!!!!!!! Thankyou.

Start > run > winver

It'll tell you if it's 64bit version.

If not, you can download AVG Antivirus for free at http://free.grisoft.com It is vista compatible.

got my version from the welcome centre its a 32 bit but just realised I have windows defender already installed when I purchased the laptop maybe this is causng the problem of not being able to download AVG cos believe me I have tried everything to download avg. does windows defender cover all anti virus, spyware, malware, it says it does but just need to double check, can you let me know many thanks

Windows defender is for generic spyware/malware only.

I just downloaded AVG for Vista to my desktop. Here is the link to the install file. Try to save this to your desktop and then run it:

avg antivirus
dont know how to thank you enough doing it your way worked 1st time my problem was instead of saving the file I just run it straight away, once again many thanks

Vista Hell and AVG again
I have tried to download load your recommendations for this version of AVG and I still get the blue screen saying their is a problem and to open in safe mode. Is there another free antivirus software that works with the hated Vista or some other recommendation for AVG
