possible virus problems using Windows Vista...please help!
i'm helping a friend fix a computer thats not even a month old. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4677 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC. It has an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2080, 1GB of DDR2 memory, and 80GB hard drive.

Whenever you turn the computer on, the computer boots up fine until you hit the desktop. At that point, it basically freezes. If you are lucky, you might be able to double-click on an icon but the program never loads.

I tried to log in by using Safe Mode and everything boots fine until you hit the desktop. At this point, it comes up with two separate error messages.

1. Windows Explorer is not working ~>Windows is checking a solution for the problem
2. Windows Explorer is restarting...

After this point, its like caught in a loop. It just recycles those same error messages over and over.

I have also tried the System Restore to a previous date. It runs its course and when it tries to load the desktop the first time, it just stays on a black screen. You can see the mouse pointer but nothing else.

Since this is a new computer, there is no important information that needs to be saved. If someone here could assist me in fixing this problem or running the restore CD while using the Command Prompt perhaps, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
