LAME is an MP3 encoder, normally used with some application. Can you be more specific what you're trying to do?

Just guessing that you want it for Audacity ..
I just Paste the Lame_enc.dll in the C: Audacity Program folder.

The first time you do an export to a mp3 file, Audacity will ask you where it is.

You can get the Lame encoder for Audacity here ...

Lame MP3 Encoder
I do a bit of audio editing of voice recordings using Goldwave. My recordings are done on an iRiver IFP-895 MP3 player/direct encoder. The software that comes with the MP3 player/direct encoder is iRiver Music Manager, which enables me to transfer the recording to my Vista PC and also allows me to convert to MP3 (The actual recordings are in some special IRiver code). When I want to paste a piece of recording into a recording I have already made and opened in Goldwave, having recorded the piece on my iRiver, transferred and converted, everything goes as smoothly as one could wish. But when I come to save the altered file, I get a box which says that the MP3 encoder cannot be found. As I understand Lame to be the leading encoder, I have been trying to download it from the Lame site, but I am not succeeding. There must be something which I do not understand. Or my solution to the problem may be wrong. Any solutions? Allan.

Instructions ...
http://www.goldwave.com/faq.php#mpeg

Lame download ...
http://www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm

Looks like this works the same as Audacity ...
I'd try Placing the Lame_enc.dll in the C: program files/Goldwave folder.
When you first try to save as MP3 .. it will ask you were you put it .. and you can browse to it.

My Lame Problem
I too am having a problem with my lame_enc.dll. I am trying to get RipEditBurn to see the encoder and have copied it into the programs working folder but the program still fails to see it.

My problem is particular to Vista, and I am using a brand mew Dell Inspiron 1720 and Vista Premium.

I had a similar problem with my password program not seeing the database files in the program directory.

Okay admin here is the solution.
whenever a user is created his data is not picked up from the installation file in program folder. the data is picked up from the following place in Vista as given under: -
C:\users\XXX(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Citi-Software

I wonder it RipEditBurn might be having the same problem??

Thanks

Paul

Lame MP3 encoder.
I am sorry I do not have any technical expertise. All I know is that placing the Lame encoder file in the same folder as my editing programme (Goldwave) solved the problem. How or why, I do not know. Allan.
