Solved: Installed Xp On Vista System, Won't Start Now, Will Give $5 Via Paypal To Whom Solves
Hi,

Thanks for reading this.. i tried to install xp on a vista system, i created a seperate partition and installed it on the partition, then reset the pc once the set up files had finished downloading. THEN HORROR it got stuck on the start up screen of the motherboard manufacture and it won't move from there, not even when i put in a boot cd nor when i F8 nor anything elseeeeeee.

sooooo i decided to connect my pcs hard drive to my laptop via a sata to usb converter and i deleted the xp partition. hooked it back up to my desktop and STILL the same thing. sooo i though oh well i'll lose all my information but i'll get it working again. SO I FORMATTED my vista partition and hooked it back up AND STILL ON THE DAMN motherboard manufacture screen and it won't budge.

I've tried everything i took out the bios battery maybe to loose any boot thingy i don't know :'( it still stalls there, i'm very concerned

i need my desktop back and running because it's the only thing machine i have which run my programs for my college. i can't afford to be without it for too long.

it's been 5days since it was like this. PLEASE HELPPPPPPPP
ANYONE WHO RESOLVES MY PROBLEM. regardless of what country i shall send them via paypal £2.50 which is the equivelent of $5 i don't have anymore money loaded into my paypal account and i'm an starved student.

Please helppppppppppppppppppp

Best Regards

Bruce

Hi and welcome. I've deleted your other duplicate post.

Is the bios set to boot from the CD/DVD drive first?

Are you using a USB keyboard? If so, you may need to change the bios setup to recognize the USB keyboard....IF that isn't an option, you'll need a PS/2 keyboard.

Are you sure that the disk is bootable? Are you using a REAL Windows install cd?

Hi, Yes it's the dvd i got with the computer. i've also tried 3rd party emergency boot cds to no avail. the harddrive works fine as a slave connected to my laptop. so i dnt think the harddrive is bad, but i believe there's something bad on the harddrive.

That should have no bearing whatsoever on not getting past the bios screen.

Can you test the disk on your laptop to see if it will boot.

Not sure I understand the need for an adapter I'm wondering if the disk itself is bootable? Some aren't. If it's not a complete reinstall disk, and you formatted the drive, you may have also wiped the small partition that may hold the information required for reinstallation. You should be able to test the disk on your laptop to see if you get the Windows setup screen.

I also certainly hope that you aren't trying to connect the hard drive while the system is already powered on.

oh, i did connect while powered on :S it's the frustration, the partition with the information is still on it, it's 5gb partition i can't touch that partition, not even explore it. is there any 3rd party program which i can use to format on vista? any ideas cuz the harddrive works fine when connected to my laptop via usb.

If the Vista CD(DVD) is bootable, you don't need any 3rd party program. Again, is this a REAL Microsoft Halogram cd? What does the top read?

Again, I hate to be redundant, but, can you try a DVD that you KNOW is bootable? Do you have an XP cd? Windows 98 cd? Anything? Without knowing what the recovery cd has on it and without you answering my question regarding TESTING it on another system, we're at a dead end.

That still doesn't explain the F8 and boot from CD/DVD problem.
