Well I surfed and found this

http://www.technewsworld.com/story/55542.html

Its pretty old news, but valid. Conditions would have to fulfil some criteria for a hacker to exploit it. Most hackers, I feel, would get into your computer by better known means.
Why , again, single out Vista for this discrimination. Any OS with Voice recognition on it would be subject to the same threat. (Even the good ship Enterprise!)

mrrb, I spent about 2 minutes at the link in your signature....it's in dire need of grammar/spelling check my friend

I see you have a link to our forum, I'll be pointing this out to techguy, as I'm not sure he wants to be linked to a site that bashes Microsoft.

That does seem to be the purpose of this thread. I starts with something about what "experts" say.

All it does is link to what some other person says about Vista. Not sure if they are an expert or not. But even if they are it really doesn't matter. It's not like every expert in the world has to like Vista or it is not a good operating system. Like with everything previous, some people like a new operating system and some don't. Nothing new there at all.

The point I was trying to make, Bob, is that I don't think this site wants to be a "supporter" like we are mentioned at the bottom of the poster's web page

Bob is correct,Acacandy. But I am inclined to agree with you about the quality of the site. That is not the concern of this site or thread. As you say, in view of the spelling and grammar, it has either been put up in hast or by someone who is not basically English speaking.
I was interested in their arguments and bookmarked the page. However, now that it is underway, and I have had time to browse through what is available, it does seem that the "Microsoft bashing" is , in many cases, ill-informed. I am also of the opinion that some of it is born out of what potential users read from others, rather than what they themselves have experienced.

btw, Acacandy. Did you try clicking on any of the links. I followed one which offered to make my computer "blazingly " fast. I was redirected to PayPal and from there I backspaced and a large message came up saying the item was sold out! Quite a lot of other money making stuff on the pages.
Comment: For a site which has the intention of bringing don Microsoft/Vista, they sure are aiming to make a bit of cash out of the exercise with Vista support items!

My point isn't/wasn't to argue with Bob, you or anyone else. The site had a DIRECT LINK to us here, at TSG, indicating that we were a "SUPPORTER" of their site.

The owner of this site asked that the link be removed, and it was.

I have no interest in reading a site that seems to insinuate that Windows Vista was "quietly released to the public."

REALLY????? You would have had to be living in a cave not to have heard about Vista....so please.......

And yes, I did see the money making opportunistic parts of the link as well. As long as the poster doesn't post in threads with the only intent to advertise their site, the link is acceptable in their sig line (with the edit that they did).

Never saw any reason for any argument either. Glad that's the case.

Uhaligani
if ones premise is false what is usually the outcome?
You have inadvertently answered your own question,
but your premise is false.

if your premise is false your conclusion will be at best, unclear.
You assume as does Acacandy that we are bashing microsoft
or trying to bring them down ( -- to bring them down?-- even if it were,
we most certainly would be deluding ourselves now wouldn't we), so
how could your conclusion makes sense?
