Vista does and does not recognise speakers..
Hey all
Small problem with Vista Ultimate. I re-installed my Fatal1ty sound card, then stuck 7.1 speakers into it. ( I Know, no profile update yet...) Testing in control panel gives mr perfect 7.1 sound, with no probs at all- all speakers test fine. However, any app i use recognises only stereo speakers.
Just to confuse the issue, I have 2 versions of Vista, both Ultimate, one being for gaming and one for work etc. In the work install, I tend to play a lot of music, as it forstalls the boredom, and in winamp, media player, pretty much any app, I only get 2 speakers kicking up, along with the sub. In the games app, all the games I try tell me that only stereo sound is detected, not surround. I have a horrible feeling this may be related to the lack of Vista support for EAX, but cant for the life of me work out how.
If anyone has any answers, or even good guesses! please post.
Oh, BTW, onboard sound is disabled, and the speakers are set as default output.

Hi there Gulo Luseus,

I have exactly the same problem as you describe in your post. I wonder if you have found a solution.

Sorry for bringing up such an old topic.

Thanks in advance.
