Ok. This is just completely weird. Nothing plays with any sound. VLC movies, iTunes songs, windows media player files. Nothing. This is completely frustrating. I go to play a song in iTunes and it just stays at 0:00. WTF. No errors or anything. I know my headphones work because I can play youtube videos or something and i can hear them.

Please tell me what's going on. I'm using Windows Vista, latest drivers, no viruses, etc etc. I've rebooted too. No help.

Not half as frustrating as it is to try to help you without knowing a single piece of hardware or whether or not this is a new upgrade, new pc bought, built by your father or HP laptop, dual boot or anything about your system. That's like saying to you I own an auto how can I fix it?

Also note that iTunes has problems in running on a Vista machine, and it is a iTune issue NOT Microsoft's. Check out the iTune web site.

No i am having the same problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505. I upgraded to windows vista ultimate about 4 months ago. I was able to watch videos and listen to music up until 3 days ago. I started up my laptop like usual in the morning and tried listening to my music while taking a shower, but nothing played not Windows Media Player, iTunes, Winamp, or Real Player. I just get error messages from Windows Media Player and the rest of the players just sit at 0 seconds of the songs when i press play.

Also at the same time of the media not playing my network icon at the bottom stopped displaying what wireless network i am connected to. I am connected to my router but the taskbar icon says "Connection status: unknown-server execution failed".

Do you have any clue what could be causing these two problems?? There are a few threads with this same exact problem so we are not the only ones having this happen...

Here is another thread with the same problem

I figured out what is causing these problems on my computer. I recently upgraded my AIM to 6.5 when i did that it caused media to no longer play and my network icon to not display my network...did a system restore to a point before i upgraded to 6.5 and now music plays correctly again. DO NOT DOWNLOAD AIM 6.5
