hey everyone,

I am interested in getting Windows Vista home premium. I also read that Windows media Center comes bundled with home premium. Now I also have a TV tuner card, so I was curious if Windows media Center makes it possible to schedule TV recordings? For some reason in Windows XP with in movie maker, it doesn't allow you to schedule a time to record a TV show.

Yes, Vista HP comes with Media center and it includes a "TV Guide" that is easy to set up and use. I use A Hauppauge PVR150 which was immediately recognized by Vista and integrated into Media Center. The recordings are a snap and the video quality is quite good. The problem I had was that I was unable to find a way to select the quality I wanted and ended up with a 2gb 30 minute clip. It was also in a proprietary format that I was unable to edit with my usual editor (Video Re-do). I found Media Center to be a bit too "bossy" for me, as it just flat takes over whatever it can grab and goes ahead and connects to the "TV Guide" updater whether I wanted it to or not. I ended up wiping the whole mess and doing a re-installation and setting up the PVR150 With the Hauppauge software. Since it is no longer activated, I'm a little foggy on the exact terminology used by Media Center, so........well......I'm pretty foggy anyway.....what was the question?
