vista connectivity.... help please
Hello.. i've recently upgraded my win xp to vista ultimate and i have a strange problem.
i can use the explorer and visit all the websites, however all other programs that require a connection doesn't work.. outlook doesn't send/recieve, messenger won't connect etc..
all the programs were working perfectly on the xp and the firewall rules havn't change..
does anyone have a clue... what could i do???
I'm using an Asus a8j wireless laptop if that matters.
thanks..

What are these "other programs that require connection"?
Did you do a clean or upgrade install?
What firewall and version are you running?

the programs ...
thanks for replying...
the other programs are : windows live messenger 8.1, outlook 2007, (miu)torrent and emule. but i'm sure the problem is not specific to them..
I did an upgrade so all the setting in outlook were saved.. and i checked them againg anyway..
I'm using windows firewall in which all the programs are enabled as exceptions..
i get error No' "80072ee7" in the messenger if that helps. i've read about it, but nothing was quite helpfull.
thanks again..

Try disabling your antivirus program and see if it helps. If so, then look for the mail antivirus function and permanently disable it. It ha little use but is mainly an added "glitter" to most anti-virus installations. The main program does the same thing.
