Teeny, tiny print
My poor old eyes have had it. Since installing VISTA (clean install on a new machine), about 98% of everything I print is so tiny it is practically unreadable. I have updated drivers, rechecked printer settings (HP LJ8150), reset the options so many times and in so many ways, I don't know where they're at compared to where they should be. I have set & reset font sizes, page filters, page zooms & etc. So, what am I missing & how do I get printed info to print at least a 12 point print? Thanks.

Mostly web pages, however, the same problem presents itself in my emails sometimes.

Screen resolution reads fine, print is normal size. Once in a rare while, the screen print is also teeny, tiny.

In internet explorer on the bottom right there is the zoom function you can use for your web pages. The screen print size, most programs such as Word and Adobe have zoom functions.

Hi. Reading on screen is no problem. Although, I followed zoom suggestion and now it's easier to read. The problem is the actual printed paper page--mostly web page info, but also many of my emails when I print them out. I do a *lot* of research so a printed page has to be readable--putting info on the head of a pin is not what I'm trying to do.

im going to assume its only printing from the internet that you have problems with so you could try the following and see what its set at:
mozilla firefox: tools >> options >> content>> fonts and colours and try fidling around with them
internet explorer: i dont think you can change the font sizes.
let me know if that helps

Hi, John. Thanks for your suggestion. I now have Firefox and will try that solution. I did locate a small, free program called Easy Read which will enlarge the print, but it also enlarges the page size (IE7) which doesn't wrap correctly. I did find a solution for at least one research site--Wikipedia (UTF8). In Firefox, when I use the print preview screen, increase to 150% of original & print from the preview screen, I get a great, readable page. I haven't tried this solution yet on other sites & don't know if the UTF code holds true for other internet sites, but if so, my problem is solved. Takes a few more steps, but it sure saves on eyestrain--or, lack of getting a research article! If you want, I'll keep you informed on what I find. If you come up with other solutions, please let me know. Again, thanks to all for your help.

sanme problem..PLUS...
I'll try that "fix" suggested with Mozilla... but even if the print becomes large enough to read, I have another glitch that results in the printer somehow printing out the progamming language that it is receiving with the requested prining material...and to make matters worse, it'll take a simple 5 line email, and requuire as much as several dozen pages of print out.....which are those unwanted programming instructions for the printer..Maybe someone can help.. The empson people cannot, it seems.. My Embargq tech people on whose lines we are on dsl, are "working on it".. may get a reply in a few days.

1) you are "zoomed out". This is done either by accessing the View options in your email client/web browser, or holding down control and scrolling with your mouse. The opposite applies (To zoom back in).

2) Your resolution is set too high. Try setting the resolution to 1024 by 768 and then working upwards from there to find the maximum resolution while still being readable.

That's a particularly interesting problem... the teeny print.. I have the same problem except that the print includes multiple pages of what I assume are the coded instructions to the printer(s)... a simple one page printing job on DSL takes about 3 dozen printed pages. DSL provider, printer manufacturer and computer manufacturer have no idea what is the cause... printer works fine off line. CAn cut and paste to a word perfect program and the printing is fine, though cumbersome in process.

Hi. Don't know if you can find a thread that covers your "code" problem, but if you haven't read through the *many* questions & replies re tiny print on the Microsoft Vista forum, you might give it a whirl. There may be a thread answer that will cover your problem. Last time I checked, they didn't have an answer to the tiny, tiny print problem in IE7 though. Guess they're working on it.
