windows updates
I just noticed an update downloaded to my computer( not installed) for a NVIDIA driver dated July 2007 (6222). The newest driver came out a few weeks ago.(6375)
There was also an update for a Realtek driver I updated a month or so ago.
Just pointing this out so people might check their "Important" updates before installing them.

I couldn't find a way to get rid of it so I installed it then rolled back the driver to the newer version. This morning it is back there with notices to install and turn on automatic updates.
How can I stop windows from bugging about what is obviously an error on their part?

Are you sure that these are Microsoft updates?
Remember that a lot of hardware OEM's and software OEM's have their own update settings.
What is the make and model of this computer?

Remember that any VENDOR drivers at Microsoft MAY be older than the ones at the vendor site. It takes time for the ones from the vendor to be APPROVED by Microsoft.

I would go to the vender's website of ANY hardware for the most current driver and/or software.

Maybe I wasn't clear on this. I have the newest driver from NVIDIA, but microsoft keeps downloading the older one.

they call it an important update and keep bugging unless I turn off auto updates. Then it bugs about autoupdate being turned off.

In Windows Help, under ' I keep being offered an update from Windows that I don’t want or that I already removed', it says you can hide updates, and that you won't be offered it again unless you choose to restore it. I haven't tried this myself, but maybe it would work?

I've used that function in the past and found it to work, i.e. I've chosen to hide certain updates.
