Gadgets and Folders don't load correctly
This is an annoying problem i still have: on my vista home premium laptop, sometimes the gadgets don't load correctly. i mean i have a bunch of gadgets on the sidebar (clock, calendar, slideshow, fortune cookie, multimeter, cpu heat monitor, folder slice, beijing olympics countdown) and sometimes some gadgets won't load. How can i fix this?

Problem no. 2 is that in folders, for example if i set the folder view to be in "Large icons" and leave, and then return, the folder view has been changed to something else (ex. "details" or "tiles", etc.)... i already selected the option for "remember my folder view settings" in folder options. Help.

Problem no. 3 is taskbar. sometimes, some of the programs won't load. a while ago, the built-in norton internet security icon never appeared in the taskbar.

How can make my laptop remember my settings and my startup programs?
I've got an everex xt5000t laptop. i upgraded the ram to 2gb.

Try this thread here regarding your gadgets. Lots of ideas in it you could try.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...hlight=gadgets

Also, can't remember which thread I got this from, but maybe it will help:

If tray icons don’t show up…

I've got the solution...

In the notification area properties you'll notice an option to customize how explorer handles previous tray icons. The only problem with this is explorer saves a setting for EVERY icon ever loaded.

For some reason if you clear this history of icons; the power, network, volume....icons will all reappear.

- brilliant i hear you say.

----------------------------------
CLEARING THE TRAY ICON HISTORY

> run 'regedit.exe'

> goto key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \TrayNotify'

> delete keys 'IconStreams' & 'PastIconsStream'

> start task manager, go to processes and kill explorer.exe

> go to applications in the task manager, hit new task and type 'explorer.exe'

> explorer will now reboot and woohey, your icons should return.

> crazy if you ask me.........

------

Also, I’ve found some more detailed instructions with some pictures and shiny bits here if you can't follow me:

My apologies to whoever posted the above, as I can't give them credit.

Hope these are some help to you, good luck
