IE 7 pro and vista home edition problems
okay -- i upgraded to the IE 7 pro version and now when i go to close it -- i keep getting the message that internet exploer has stopped working and is restarting. the problem is that i dont want it to restart -- i want to close it. and if i try to force close it wont do that either. i basically have to restart in order to get it closed.

i mainly use firefox -- but there are some things that i like from IE

i have uninstalled the pro version and went back to regular IE -- but it still does the same thing. could some please help me with this problem --- please

cheers

I'm not real sure what you are referring to. I have IE7Pro version 0.9.16 installed on Vista's Internet Explorer.

Is that the version you "upgraded" to?

And are you saying that when installed it caused IE to stop working and when uninstalled you still encounter the same problem?

When installed did you have "crash recovery" checked?

If there is a continuing problem with Internet Explorer even without this particular plugin installed -- does the problem occur in "no-addons" mode?

Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools to test that.

If IE7 is set as your default browser, that could be why you're getting the message.

Since you mainly use Firefox, set it as your default browser. There is an add-on for Firefox (I think) to switch easily to IE when needed.

i went to regular IE to the IE pro 7 and now i keep getting this message.

but with further investigation, i think it has something to do with skype and the internet explorer plug in. i did an update for skype but i am getting the same message. so i will look some more

but i am new to vista -- where do i set FF as the default browser at?

update now it restarts and open the page again -- then i am able to close it --- very strange indeed
