Vista Home Premium
Is there a utility to add Complete PC Backup and Restore to Vista Home Premium? If not, what do you all recommend? Thanks

Hi, fairfield, welcome.

I'm sure other folks will recommend Ghost.

If you're worried only about an issue with Vista--
I myself use:

1. multi-hard drives & partitions

2. on first, separate, & smaller partition lies Vista BUT with most components migrated out:

there will be a separate partition with all pagefile/*temp/tmp/*cache folders, another one with all data/*doc*/*user*/user name/*download*/ folders, along with windows subfolder-- INF & backups of the two subfolders downloaded* & the two regist*. Another partition will contain all Program* folders.

Note that you have to tell windows: either within its settings or w/ various tweak apps about the new locations-- both pre-move & post reinstall.

3. I burn vista install disc to both- a separate partition on a hard drive & another disc.
To both i will apply vLite.

4. Automate periodic & 'separate' backups of--
one of entire windows folder & the root drive(no folders)
& another one of windows two system subfolders only.

In case of issues i would progressively replace system folders, then windows & root, then reinstall from updated & vlited installation copy.

A further benefit of multi-drives is the system will run a bit faster.

I personally dislike wasting time and/or resources w/ total backups-- and worry that tunless a backup is from a few minutes ago, i will lose significant data / work.

But Ghost does receive universal acclaim.

Yes, that's another widely-acclaimed one...

I'd say Ghost, Acronis, and Paragon are recommended much more than anything else.
