Try going to the Program Files folder and deleting the folder that is left. Where is this icon... in the tray or desktop?

You could try and reinstall it, and see if there is a menu option not to show the icon, before uninstalling again. Fwiw have a look here, perhaps you can get it to work?

There are no contents in the folder - nor is there a folder at all. It is to the immediate left of the system clock on the lower right hand corner.
