Solved: at wits end with vista problem
so i have had alot of trouble here lately with my computer and it seems to be centered around internet explorer although i could be wrong on that to. some weeks ago one of my relatives used this computer and i suspected they went to not so tasteful websites or thing of that nature. after a while of using ie7 it starts to do funny things like when you middle click to bring up a link in a new tab all it does is say connecting. Well then it will start one by one removing the toolbars at the top first menus, then yahoo, and finally google. That is just the start after this has happened i can not use copy and paste function for any programs, after about 15 minutes of it doing this programs other than IE will began to not start up at all like open office writer or even notepad. it seems though that after i start computer it fixes itself for maybe an hour then right back to were it was again. protection wise i was using spybot search and destroy newest version and avira antivir or what ever. well one of my friends told me to use C Cleaner, i did. nothing changed. so now through a special thing through my dsl provider i get nortons for free so i have been running that for a week still nothing changed. if someone could help me i would appreciate it alot. I have never used hijack this logs otherwise i would have posted one so if you need one just let me know how to do one and i will get it to you as soon as i can. thank you very much.

You're infected. Scan for malware. look in the Internet Options for new BHO's and disable ones you don't want.

Free anti-malware scanners:

Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware 2007
SuperAntiSpyware
Spyware Eliminator
Emco Malware Destroyer
Spyware Doctor
Arovax Anti-spyware
Trend-Micro Rootkit Buster
F-Secure Blacklight

If you need further help, post a log from HijackThis in the Malware forum for analysis.

well this is the thing i had spybot for the longest time and up until monday i ran it 3 times a week to see if i could find what was going on and nothing was found. so should i try one of the other ones then? and the nortons i have is suppose to have a spyware/malware detector but i am not sure about that since i have had it only since monday.

and like i said i have never used hijack this at all so if you need it you will have to walk me through it please and if so thank you.

and one more thing where do i go to check for BHO's i am not for sure what you mean by that.

Each catches things that others don't, so using another is a good idea.

If you run HijackThis and post your log in the Malware forum, one of our Gold Shield experts will evaluate it for you and walk you through removing all malware found. It may take a while for them to get to you, so please be patient. You could try some other scanners while awaiting their response.
