Question Renaming folder problems
Hello
I have just installed a fresh copy of Windows Vista on to my machine.
Its been working perfectly fine for a few days.
Ive made a new folder on my desktop for the first time (the first time ive needed to)
When i try to rename it from 'New Folder' i get an error saying 'The file or folder does not exist'
Im completely confused.
Please can anyone help me?

Many thanks.
Tom Bullock.

Right-click the desktop and Refresh. Is it still there?

Try running chkdsk /r on the drive on next boot. (Start > Run > chkdsk /r, and then answer "Y" to the questions.)

Can you open the folder? add/delete/copy files? If you create another folder does it have the same problem?

Try using DelinvFile to delete it (if it won't delete) and try again.

I know the answer!
This happened to me so i searched as much as i could to find an answer.
The reason it happens is something to do with the updates you install after you install the OS.

The Solution:
First go to "start>controlpanel>offline files"
then click "disable offline files"

Next:
Go to this website
Vista Fix
Download the "Newfolderfix.reg" File
Click yes when it asks you to continue to put the file into your registry.

After that, restart and it should be fixed!
