Exclamation System doesn't boot!
Hey guys, I just bought a new acer pc. As Vista was installing (copying files and whatnot) my brother accidentally stepped on the power cord, pulling it out of the wall.

It was roughly 60% done.

Now when it boots up (just after the ACER screen), I get an error saying:

Quote:
Verifying DMI Pool Data ...................... Update Success

A disk read error occurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
I've restarted it many times and it always comes back to this screen. I've tried looking in the Boot Menu and the Setup for some kind of 'factory reset' or something similar, but I've had no luck.

Do I need to take it back to the store? Or can I fix it myself?

Thanks,
noLogic

How were you installing Vista? Was it from a DVD? Can you no longer boot from the DVD?

Well I purchased it from Futureshop, and they have vista on a piece of the HD and therefore don't give a boot CD.

So you press a key combination to start the setup and you get the error if you press those keys too?

Well, not to start the setup. It's for the pc to try to reboot again.

It's okay, I'll be taking it back in the morning. I was just seeing if anyone knew of a quick fix.

Thanks anyway
