Safe mode
When trying to get into safe mode or last good config the system will not go to either, then i tried to do a repair and was not able to do

Has the system been working OK? what was going on just previous to the glitch? Have you tried shutting down completely for a while ? have you tied to boot from the Vista DVD? if you can try to do a repair setup.

I installed a fax modem for a friend of mine [very easy to do]ran the driver disc and went to device manager to check if there. Shut down and upon re boot the screen with safe mode ect appeared, clicked on safe mode and would not go there,clicked on last known good ect { nothing} Then i put Vista disc into pc and went to do a repair { didnt word} no error message.The modem was Vista listed.SO simple to do but what a PBLM.What i think i have to do is wipe the drive and re install Vista????

Before wiping the disk and losing allyour work to that point, see if you can do a "repair" installation; worth a try.

safe mode
When doing a R from the Vista disc it starts off by doing so but loops back to the R screem ended up wiping drive with a disc i have { there wasent anything of importance to loose} did the wipe of the drive- re installed windows.Reluctant to do the modem install but what can i loose at this stage . Thanks for your replys

Are you sure it's a Vista driver you're using ?
