I'm in no way an authority on this, but since we're both here.

I remember reading about this issue awhile back. There was a patch or hotfix that was supposed to address this. Is your comp. up to date thru windows update?

I would check for updates first and if that isn't it you could run the memory diagnostics tool and see what that says.

Go to Control Panel, scroll to the bottom and select Windows Update. It'll automatically connect to the update site and tell you what you need to install, if anything.

To get to the memory diagnostics tool you need to go into Control Panel and open Administrative Tools. It'll be near the middle. When you open that it'll ask if you want it to restart your computer and check for problems. Hit that and see what it says.

I have the same issue and tried window updates, BIOS updates and still no go. All the ram was tested and everything works fine except for the fact it won't read the full 4 gigs. I suspect it has something to do with the way the operating system addresses the memory but so far my research has turned up nothing so I posted here and will get e-mail notices for any replies and hopefully get a solution. For the time being I removed a one gig stick , no use wasting. My system specs are as follows:

ASUS P5LD2 motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Kingston ram (3 x 1gig)
2 x 160 Western Digital hard drives configured in RAID1 array
Radeon X1550 video card (PCIe)
LG GSA-H50N dvdr drive
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit

Try checking with BIOS update. If the issue still exists, then it is clear that it is a compatibility issue. Your actual hard drive capacity will be for 4000mb only. There is noting to change in the BIOS settings also.

In order to flash your bios all you need is a floppy disk. You can get the utility to do it from your board manufacturer. You should check your manual for instructions on how to do it.

I caution you though. Flashing your bios can be dangerous if not done properly. You could screw up your computer, so only use it as a last resort.
