A lot of Programs running, need help?!
In my Task Manager, there are like 11 processes named svchost.exe and a lot of other stuff i don't think i need running all the time.

This stuff is REALLY slowing my computer, what can I do to stop them?

Heres a picture of all the stuff I can't close.

Services Running
scvhost is a common program that is run by many services. You can see what Services are running and how they start by going to

Control Panel>>>Administrative Tools>>> Services

Some of the services that start automatic are not necessary for normal use. Most are. You can see what the execution path is by right clicking and selecting Properties.

If you modify any services you should keep a notes and if something is not working correctly go back to original state.

You may prefer to use "tasklist /svc" from the command prompt which will give a listing of all running services that are used by svchost.exe

11 instances of svchost isn't abnormal, but I agree that you probably have a lot of stuff running that you don't need. Some of it could be virus/malware as was suggested, but it's equally likely that you just have a lot of stuff that runs on startup. A pet peeve of mine is utilities that run 100% of the time in order to save you a half-second 1% of the time. A few years ago Roxio had one, disc watcher or something like that, that simply watched your CD drives. When you put a blank CD in it automatically started CD Creator.

Now I create CD's maybe 1% of the time I'm on the computer-at most. When I do, it takes me about a half-second to find & double-click on CD Creator. So who needs a utility running 100% of the time to do that for me? I understand that they've expanded the use of disc watcher since they moved into media management, but the basic problem is still the same. Now it checks your memory card, usb stick, cd, etc. for media content-and how often do you add new content to your PC? How long does it take you to add it manually? Yet this still runs 100% of the time.

Acrobat Speed Launcher is another one.
