Solved: Lost Media Center
I'm brand new to Vista (Home Premium) and I can't find anything. I know when I first started using the computer (two weeks ago) that I had Windows Photo Gallery and another Windows program that looked like XP Media Center. I even went through a setup process and I remember that I could view photo's on it as well as the Photo Gallery.

Now it's disappeared from my desktop programs. The Photo Gallery is still there but the other one is not. I can't find my programs folder to verify that there's not a shortcut there either.

Could someone help me find the program, make a shortcut, and get it back on my programs list.

I would be eternally grateful.

Create a shortcut to %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe for Media Center.

Well I have a nice looking shortcut and I found the program, but now it gives me a notice that;
"Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy".

Any ideas? All Windows Media Center stuff is set to manual in "services"

Sounds like a Group Policy has been enabled to prevent WMC from running, you can re-enable it using Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) or Regedit. Not sure where registry setting is though.

Problem solved
Problem solved. For some reason, Windows Mail, Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center all had the check marks removed in the "Custom" section of "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" in the Control Panel.
After putting a check in the "allow access" boxes, they all seem to be working properly now.

Don't know why the checkmarks were removed. I know I didn't do it.

Appreciate all the suggestions. It was another learning experience.
