Solved: can't record
Hi all, The problem is that although I know the microphone is good, I can't get a recording.I have gone to control panel /sound/recording and they say the high definition recording device is working. I'm using Vista home premium. thanks, John

better now
I went around to some of the other postings with the same problem and found that Noyb recommended downloading Audacity .
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ So I did and now I can record. Maybe someday I'll find out why I can't record without it.
